“She came into church. She sat near the back. The service came to an end. I got out of my seat and went to welcome her. We chatted for a while. She was local. She had her wee girl with her. I invited her to our homegroup and told her what we do there. She seemed keen.
I was delighted when she turned up at our place the night of homegroup. She sat quietly throughout the group time. I got her phone number and kept in contact with her throughout the weeks.
It was a wee bit difficult for her to get to group being on a school night as she didn’t have a babysitter for her daughter. We met up with coffees at mine or me at hers. I noticed quite a few disturbing symbols or ornaments sitting around her house. The mantel piece was arrayed with things I’d only seen in crystal / gem type shops . I went home with a heavy heart asking the Lord ‘do I need to play a part in this girl’s life? Do I need to start telling her or even asking her – what do these stand for’? I had no idea nor had I anything to do with stuff like that, but I did know I left without peace. I felt a deep sense of something heavy and oppressing in that house! I started praying as I drove home.
My hubby and I committed her to prayer most nights. I felt every night my heavy load was lifted as we prayed, but then in the morning it was surrounding my thoughts again!
I felt I was entering a brand-new season in God myself as I committed myself to God for this lady in prayer. I got into prayer like it was a driving source that I had to urgently pray for her to be free from any darkness surrounding her. She continued to come to my place often and in fact we took her under our wing. We would invite her to dinner with her daughter often and sometimes just make it a fun pizza night thinking of her daughter. She started getting involved more in church which we thought was great to see. She would ask us a lot of questions which we thought was good, meant she was really thinking things through.
We had a weekend coming up where we were going to a “Breaking the Chains” Conference. She was extremely keen to come and see what it was all about. I remember her saying early that weekend, she has never been shown love like she had received since being in church. I was encouraged but also sad to think she’d not experienced any kind of love it seemed. Anyway, this weekend was full of emotions for her and as we had different small group sessions, she shed buckets of tears with lots of triggers going off. Halfway through it she ran out. I couldn’t find her outside so someone else offered to stay outside and look for her as I had to be involved in the next group session. When I came out of that session, I saw her being ministered to by the Pastor.
On our way home in the car, she was very quiet. During the week she arrived at my door in tears. I welcomed her in. Boy did she give us a shock. We had no idea what Jesus was doing in her life..
Through many tears she blurted out confession after confession. It began by her saying, she had been sent into our church to spy on it and get information to take back to the coven
The coven then began to pray against us as a church, against us as leaders, to bring us down, to collapse the church, to demonise us personally. Yes, she was a full on witch!
She was of high ranking in this coven, in fact just one down from a goddess! She continued to say the love of the church overwhelmed her and she wanted to become a Christian, but then that would not be good, because if the coven found out, she would be persecuted big time and she said they would harm her!
The stories she then went on to tell us were very eye opening. Yes each and every time she met us at our place, she would touch the archway of our front door as she came in and would pray curses on our house and all who walked into it. (Unbeknown to us). She was getting so confused as by now, she should be starting to see and recognise bad stuff happening to us. Her character brought out more and more complicated stuff. She yelled at God, she yelled at Satan, I was praying my hubby would be home soon.
She explained she pulled strands out of her hair while sitting on our couch and each one she dropped on the floor had a curse attached to it each and that was every time she came around. She also told us; her coven went to the top of the hill in the town where we lived and prayed curses over the city and our family and named our addresses for Satan to attack. All the confessions came out and with many more prayers and a late dinner we wound up our time together. Our minds were a whirl. BUT GOD!
Yes, God intervened in so many ways and one of them which overwhelms me still, was my dear intercessory friend rang up and said to me, ‘God has told me you are carrying a burden and that I am to pray for your family especially at this time’. The irony of this was I said to my hubby the week before, I know we’ve been remiss in praying for our family with all that was happening in our lives with wanting to bring this lady to Christ. After we finished praying into the midnight hours some nights, I would quietly pray on my own for my kids but always fell asleep before the end of my prayer. I was feeling terrible about this but look what God did. So, my praying friend from then took on my family to pray deeply for them and stand in for us while we were so deeply involved in FULL ON intercession for witchcraft. (Due to that – that friend has always felt a special bond with our kids while she was praying for them).
Let me finish by telling you, it didn’t all end there. Our witch friend gave her life to Christ. She swung from coven to the God. The pull on her was so strong. She would be rejoicing in the Lord one day and the next was being cursed by the coven.
She rang at 1am one morning, very scared. Members of the coven surrounded her house and were calling for her to come out, and she knew what would happen if they got hold of her. They would tie her up and set fire to her, leaving her to try and fight her way out. This was the worst punishment they did for anyone contemplating on leaving the coven.
We wanted to ring the police, but she said, it would make it worse. I rang our pastor, plus my darling intercessor friend. We decided to park down the street from her house and do a prayer walk up and down her street at 1-30am. The things we do! We could see no one on her property. We wondered if they had they been and gone or not come? The bathroom light was on. We knocked on it and called her name. All we heard back was “please help me”. We rang the cops, they came and broke a window to get in. I won’t go into any more details, except to say it was our pleasure to assist her and also to get rid of the symbols of witchcraft around the house and on her mantel piece.
Thank the Lord, he got us through it. She went on to become a youth pastor and God was never fazed by the spells and curses that were made on us. We were protected completely by God’s grace and peace. What God gave us was far greater than anything the inferior one tried to bring against us.
It reminded us of the importance of praying over our homes and asking for God’s protection. When we first moved into our home many years before, my hubby oiled the doorposts and prayed for God’s protection over our home and everyone who walked through its doors. That prayer had continued to cover us all those years. Isn’t God amazing. No spell, curse or darkness could compare with the power of God”.
